Fletcher & Pobjoy go from strength to strength in the cock o's - not only did they win their first hole last week (a par on the 7th) against Saunders & Prichard, but they did it again this week (par on the 11th) against Lloyd & Iafrate. Next week's challengers look out!
After Christmas we will be launching our sponsor a junior comp again.
This year's junior order of merit winner Peter Malpas earned his sponsor, Mr Past Captain, John Linton, his money back. I would like to thank all those who sponsored a junior last year as it really helped move the club forward. The scheme has been recognised throughout Gwent as a brilliant idea and shows the direction Llanwern is going in.......
On that note I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Paul White (Junior Organiser) for his unbelievable effort this year. You have done a fantastic job and I know everybody at the club (especially the juniors) really appreciate your efforts. Keep up the great work.
When Paul is not undertaking his Junior Organiser duties or pretending to be a school teacher, he can often be found moonlighting under the Guise of Bob Caralgees!
Something to consider when you are beating yourself up the next time you don't hole everything from inside 15 feet!! (We all do it!!) Take a look at the data below. This shows the % of putts made on the PGA Tour (average). Remember these guys are playing and practicing everyday putting on the best greens in the world. Next time you miss a 6 footer give yourself a break! Remember you are putting on winter greens and the last practice putting session you probably had was back in July when you arrived 10 mins early for your tee time!!! Give yourself a break sometimes or book a putting lesson by clicking here.
It is always nice to receive some positive feedback from my students. I received this message this week from an aspiring tour pro.
"Thought you'd like to know, I just broke the course record at Prestwick, St Nicks in Scotland. Shot 63. Definetly moving in the right direction mate!"
Always great to hear such positive stories from players. If you look at his strike pattern you can see why he is capable of breaking course records. (Worth noting he took the record off former PGA Tour player Tony Johnstone.)
Many, many congratulations to Chris Harries on your amazing 5th selection to play for Wales in the Ladies Senior Home Internationals. Wales had a very memorable half with England on the first day and finished a very credible 3rd after what was considered their best performance in many years. Well done Chris.

The dreaded autumn!!!
To help combat the ever falling leaves this time of year we have upgraded our Toro 4000D into an atomic leaf mulching machine!!!! The newly purchased atomic mulching blades feature an aggressive tooth design that shreds leaves into small particles hopefully making the job of finding your balls that little easier.
The pylon installation has now been successfully completed. We would like to thank the members for their patience during this process. The road through the course has also been resurfaced to a type 1 sub base standard (at the expense of the electricity board!!).
Saw this the other day. Don't know if any comparisons can be drawn with Sunday mornings on the 1st tee in the Cock of the North and PM league!!! Looks like fun!
