Firstly, we hope you enjoyed the festive period over the past few weeks. Secondly, in this week's email, we look ahead to some exciting events taking place this year as well as a look back at the luckiest shots seen on the European Tour in our Video of the Week.

The new year is here...

Well, here we are at the start of a brand new year after what can only be described as a pretty surreal 2020. I sincerely hope you and your loved ones are safe and well. Can I just wish you all a Happy New Year as well at this point!

I have to say I am looking forward to 2021 optimistically. 2020 has taught lots us lots of lessons we never thought we would have to learn. Adapting to ever-changing situations and learning to pivot quickly being some of the more obvious. I have to say in a weird way I have enjoyed the challenges put forward by this pandemic. It has made me realise what is important and to focus on the things that truly matter.

Why not set some goals (golf or life goals!) for 2021 and strive to be the very best version of yourselves. Be kind to each other, build each other up, support each other and try to grow personally this coming year. I know these are all high on my own list.

Lots of people we know currently need and are going to need support in the months ahead. The amazing community/ family of members we have at Llanwern GC puts us in the best possible position to do this and help each other out. It might be supporting a member’s local business or just picking up the phone for a quick chat to a golfing buddy who you might think needs it. It might make all the difference to their day/ week/ year!

Myself, Dafydd and my new business partner Scottie are looking forward to seeing you all in hopefully the not too distant future and putting Covid behind us once and for all.

As always if there is anything we can do to help please get in contact and we will do whatever we can #bekind.

You’ll be the first to know... (sounds like a song!)

Myself and Julian are working hard behind the scenes to keep abreast of the ever-changing Covid landscape and its impact on golf.

Wales Golf, The PGA, GCMA and many other governing bodies are all lobbying for golf to reopen in England and Wales bestowing the many health and mental benefits golf brings.

We will of course let you know as soon as soon as we hear any news.

Course news

Course Updates

Over the coming weeks, I will be updating you all on the course and its condition.

I have to say the difference in a week is incredible and I’m 100% sure it will be as good as you remember when we return. I took this picture on Christmas day morning and have to say it looked beautiful.

Maybe one day we will be able to make this a permanent feature. It would be beautiful to sit on the balcony enjoying a beverage after a game looking at this vista!

Happy days will return soon I am sure…

Golf on Tour

A look ahead at what's to come...

2020 was a year like no other, both in golf and in the world as a whole. However, with 2021 now upon us, let’s take a look at some of the events for us golf fans to get excited about this year…

Firstly, The Masters returns to its April date, just five months on from Dustin Johnson’s record-breaking win back in November. This is followed by three more Majors in the men's game and five in the women's, including the one that got away in 2020: The Open Championship!

To top it all off, we have both the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup in the same month - September. Let’s hope Team Europe are partying twice this September! Oh, and let's not forget about the Olympics!

Something to work towards

Come rain or shine, golfers never need an excuse to dust off the cobwebs and get onto the course. So, with lots of golf to (hopefully) look forward to in 2021, there's no better time to conjure up some golf-based resolutions for the year ahead.

Walking in a winter wonderland

Long walks are as much a part of the festive season as eating too much turkey and dozing on the sofa afterwards. Greg Norman once said ‘Happiness is a long walk with a putter’. Now, it would be a little odd to take your putter on a festive walk, but one thing you'll definitely need is a good jacket!
