Playing it safe

Nobody can say that our members are not taking this pandemic lightly. Here is one of our members not taking any chances, getting ready for his round last week.

Throughout this whole pandemic, I have been constantly amazed and surprised by everybody's generosity and thoughtfulness towards other people. We have been totally overwhelmed and humbled by our members and customers since re-opening. I think we have put on at least half a stone eating all the beautiful homemade cakes we have been supplied with. We were also given some protective visors by a member that were made in a local school.

All we can say to everybody is THANK YOU all so much (and keep bringing us cake!!!!).

At the minute, we have had to remove all bins on the course due to Coronavirus and to try to limit contact points.

Could we please ask everybody to take their litter home so we can keep the course in the condition we are used to. We will put the bins back out on the course as soon as we can.

We are closely following the Government guidelines and are trying to get competitions resumed as soon as it is safely possible. Hopefully, this will be within the next couple of weeks.

We have also taken the difficult decision to cancel our Open meetings for now but hope to re-organise them for later in the season. We will let you know as soon as we have any further information.

Like many things in life, it can take a little while to get ‘match sharp’ on the golf course. Yes, we can practice as much as we like on the range or in our living rooms, but taking on the course when every shot counts is a different beast altogether.

Many of us will know this only too well after our first few rounds post-lockdown!

However, it seems as though the PGA Tour players didn’t get the memo. The second week back saw 63s, 64s and 65s in abundance, with Webb Simpson coming out on top with a 22-under-par total through the four rounds at Harbour Town Golf Links – what a golf course by the way.
