Thank You 

I would just like to start this weeks newsletter by saying a Massive Thank You to all our members. We understand it has not been ideal playing on your own and there has been a bun fight for tee times. This has meant sometimes you cannot get your desired times or days you would like to play so we thank you for your understanding and patience. The protocols and booking systems we have put in place are to keep all members and staff as safe as possible and to try to make it as fair as possible for every member to get a game. Let's hope the restrictions get lifted on Friday and we can at least see two balls being resumed which will make things a lot easier for everybody.

I would also like to say another Big Thank You to our marshalls who have been doing a great job helping keep things running smoothly around the clubhouse and first tee.

Sneeze Screen

We have been busy behind the scenes in the shop preparing for the green light to be given to retail shops. We have just taken delivery of a sneeze screen to keep you, myself and Scottie as safe as we can when we can re-open.

In the meantime, we can offer a Click and Collect service if you need anything from the shop.

We know this isn't ideal but we are doing what we can to help. If you need anything please call or text me on 07813 809560 and whatever you need I can have ready for you to collect the next time you play.

At the minute I am a volunteer marshal at the club so I am here quite a bit. 

Myself and Scottie understand you can shop online at the minute but we would kindly ask for you to give us a chance. We are super competitive on price and pride ourselves on our customer service and after-sales care.

Fresh grips for the summer

With the hot weather usually comes sweaty hands!!! This can be bad news if you have worn grips. Using the click and collect system we can replace your old grips and have them ready for you the next time you play. 

It is recommended you should replace your grips every 12 months if you play an average of once a week.

Greens Treatment

Gareth has been as busy as ever this past week with the recent change in temperature. He has been spraying the greens with a wetting agent and seaweed mix. This combination helps give the greens a Turf Tonic to help boost the health of the grass in these dry conditions.

Ryder Cup

Could this really happen?

Over the past couple of weeks, we've been lucky enough to watch Tiger, Rory and a select few others take to the course to raise money for charities.

But, it's got us thinking...

With the PGA Tour set to return next month and the European Tour the month after - both without fans for a while - will September's Ryder Cup match between Europe and USA go ahead? 

If it does, it'll likely be without spectators but would that be the same spectacle? Think back to Paris in 2018 when the cameras panned around the first tee at the start of each match to thousands of fans in the grandstand. It was a sight to behold.

Thoughts for the course

Home advantage is a phenomenon across most sports. In golf, playing a competition or match on a course you know like the back of your hand has obvious benefits. However, when playing a hole for the hundredth time, it’s easy to fall into the trap of playing it the same way you always have. But, what if there’s another way?

Risk and reward - take on the challenge?

This is where the question of risk and reward comes in.

Does the potential risk of bringing danger into play, be it trees or hazards, outweigh the potential reward?

Next time you’re standing on the tee, weigh up the potential risks and rewards of pulling out your driver. Don’t just think about avoiding doubles and trebles, consider the potential birdie or scoring 3-points. Likewise, if you struggle with a particular tee-shot, think about alternative ways to play that hole.
