James Savastano selected for Team Europe! As some of you may be aware, our very own James Savastano (Sav) has been selected to represent Team Europe in The Phoenix Cup against the USA. The Phoenix Cup is a disabled golf team event based on the Ryder Cup format. This is where golfers with disabilities from countries including Northern Ireland, Norway, Ireland, England, France and Wales will travel to Scotland. To date, the Phoenix Cup has involved 693 golfers from 18 nations and has been staged in six countries, including the USA, Canada, Scotland and Spain. This year it is held in Scotland and it includes the traditional match-play formats of foursomes, fourball and singles competitions.

Throwback Thursday
A good friend of mine is currently moving house and he has unearthed this little beauty. This was taken on the putting green when I was a junior at Llanwern alongside lots of people who are still members at the club. Pop in and tell us who you think you can spot in the picture. The jumpers we were all wearing went a long way to explaining why not many of us had girlfriends at the time. If only my jumper had the same effect on my swing as Faldos!

Harvey’s 50th birthday bash On Saturday night, the Golf Theatre hosted Llanwern member Mr Stephen Harvey’s 50th Birthday Bash! 14 of his friends took to the Golf Theatre to host a surprise party for Steve while playing a golf course on our Trackman Simulator, drinking some beers whilst enjoying some music.
Fantastic idea and great to see all the lads enjoying themselves at the club. If you’re planning on booking the Golf Theatre for a party or with just a group of people then why not give us a call on 01633 413142 we would love to accommodate you.

We work hard servicing the needs of golfers of all levels from Junior’s, club golfers, elite amateurs to Tour Professionals. We can offer a solution to many of your problems on a ‘while you wait’ basis. Our specialised services include...
Golf Grips – Over 20 Grips to choose from, available in all sizes from Junior, Ladies, Men’s Standard, Midsize or Jumbo from as little as £4 each fitted. We also stock a wide range of Putter grips and sizes are available including everyone’s favourites Superstroke, Lamkin, Ping, Golf Pride, Winn and Odyssey.
All prices include fitting with a ‘While you Wait’ Service from a single club to a complete set. WE WILL TAKE 10% OFF YOUR BILL IF YOU HAVE 9 OR MORE RE-GRIPPED! Custom Adjustments – The importance of loft and lie angle of iron is paramount. If these are incorrect it can lead to an undesired ball flight which may not be caused by your dodgy swing for once!
We offer a full iron evaluation and then if needed can adjust the loft and lie’s of your clubs while you wait.

A recent golf survey highlighted some very interesting statistics regarding golfers' habits and their equipment, two of which you can see in the image below. |
These stats might not mean a lot to you at face value, but the general recommendation is that you change your grips once a year, especially if you play regular golf. The truth is, grips lose their efficiency over time and when they do we end up gripping the club too tightly, which restricts our ability to swing the club freely. Just something for you to think about... | |
|
It's not only important that your grips are regularly replaced, but you need to ensure you get the correct sized grips. Our FREE grip fitting promotion has just started in-store and we recommend everyone giving it a try. Call us on 01633 413142 to take advantage. |
