This week we have a summary of the recent golf competitions held here at Llanwern, we have a survey for you to take which will earn you a £20 click and collect voucher (off spend over £100).

Competition news

Finals Weekend

Last weekend was the clubs Finals which saw lots of great golf being played in a fantastic spirit which is what it really is all about. The results for the finals played are below. We would like to congratulate everybody for reaching this weekend and special congratulations go to all winners. (Apologies to the finalists without pics here!)

Junior Champion – Dan Phasey
Thompson 4BBB Champions – Phil Rees & Bill Morse
Rabbits Champion – Dean Holland

We would also like to thank everybody that gave up their time on the weekend referee, namely Colin Wood, Captain Mike Mahoney, Steve Powell, Elwyn Jenkins and Manager Julian Sansom.

Jules is the Champion of Champions

It gives me great pleasure to tell you that our Club Manager Julian claimed the title of Champion of Champions last weekend at Cradoc. Jules shot 69, 72 for a 36 hole total of 141 to claim this prestigious title against many of the best players from all over Wales. Well done Jules we are super proud of you and it is a great way to end the season.

Cookie gets in on the action

After Savs heroics last week claiming the Welsh Disabled title, it was Kev Cooks turn to get in on the action this week. They headed off to the English Open at Stoke by Nayland to try to bring back some more silverware to Llanwern. I am delighted to be able to report that Kevin Cook is now the English Stableford Champion, a fantastic achievement. It was also great to see top ten placements for all the Welsh lads.

We would like to say a massive done Kev from all the staff and members at the club.

Cock O North

I can’t quite believe how fast this season has gone. In only a few weeks the Sunday competitions are finishing and the winter leagues are starting. The Cock O North (Sunday morning) pairs leagues start the first Sunday in October and there are only 5 spots left.

If you haven’t entered yet call us in the Proshop. If you are interested in playing in this great league and you don’t have a partner call us and we will do our best to hook you up.

They've done it again...

When a product has been the centre of a range for over a decade you know it must be pretty special, right? We certainly think so and it can be said of the Srixon AD333 golf ball, which is now into its ninth generation.

How does it differ? Well, it feels amazingly soft, provides even more distance and imparts a lot of spin when around the green. It's definitely worth a go, even if we do say so ourselves.

Battle of the irons

Before we pit these two beauties against one another, have a think about how good your bad shots are? It's a bit of an oxymoron, but are they disastrous and leading to big scores or are they less penal and still go somewhere around the green?
