Marley, who is six years old, was diagnosed with a rare life-threatening serious condition called Severe Aplastic Anaemia (SAA). Marley needs a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) to save his life. Aplastic Anaemia is a condition which basically means that your bone marrow doesn’t work properly and it doesn’t produce enough blood cells that your body needs. So that’s when Marley’s family decided to launch Marrow for Marley. The aim of their appeal is to encourage people from all over the world to join up to the bone marrow register. Since they started they have recruited an amazing 30,000+ people and this is just in their local area. The family say they won’t stop until they find a match for their darling boy.

Ok, so how can you help?

We need you to join the Bone Marrow Register If you live in the UK there are three ways you can join the register.

• If you’re between 16 – 30 you can join with Anthony Nolan Trust Sign-up - https://www.anthonynolan.org/donor-application/begin.
• If you are between 17- 55 then good news as you can do it in the pro shop here at Llanwern. We have the swab kits here and it only takes a couple of minutes. Alternatively you can apply for your free swab kit with DKMS - https://www.dkms.org.uk/en/register-now.
• The third way to join is by going to give blood. You can ask to join the register as you donate, they just take a little bit more blood and testing and it’s as easy as that. You only need to join one bone marrow register.
