Welcome to another edition of our newsletter. Apologies this weeks news is coming to you on a Friday, we have had a few technical issues out of our control. I bet you were all lost yesterday not getting your weekly fix on a Thursday! Anyway this week we have lined up for you, Scottie reviews the new Callaway Epic Flash, new stock arrivals, what has the golf shop and SkySports news got in common and some updates on Junior coaching and this weekends ProShop Stableford. We hope you enjoy the read. |
Scottie reviews the new Callaway Epic Flash With the BRAND NEW Callaway driver in stock I thought why not give it a whirl. First impressions are that the New Epic Flash Driver has taken the best bits from both previous drivers the GBB Epic and the Rogue while adding a faster face to improve additional ball speed. |
|
Compared to the two previous drivers which also featured jail break technology the new face is the very first driver ever to be engineered using breakthrough Artificial Intelligence. This confirms to the rules of golf and further extends the ability of the face to flex even more efficiently, while the jailbreak technology retains the head stiffness, generating increased ball speeds and further distance gains compared to the two previous models. |
Callaway state:
‘The new epic flash is designed by harnessing the power of machine learning. Flash face incorporates a variable face thickness ripple design that maximises ball speed across the face’.
'This is a transformative shift in technology. Born from over 15,000 virtual prototypes, this face design goes beyond the realm of current thinking and is the longest driver from Callaway’
|
|
Artificial Intelligence being used to design golf clubs is pretty cool in my eyes and just shows what a progressive company Callaway and why they are at the top of the tree in the golfing world at the minute.
At Llanwern we have taken delivery of the new range with all the head and shaft options you could imagine. We have over 40 different shaft options for you across the Callaway range to ensure you get the perfect fit for your game.
Why not book a fit with us to see what the Flash can do for your game.

Juniors
Over the past couple of years I have been handing more and more responsibility to Scot and I have to say he steps up to the plate every time and never fails to impress me. With regards to coaching I have been giving Scot the responsibility of looking after our younger juniors on a Saturday morning and Scot had this to say...
|
‘I Have to say that I am very blessed to have a fantastic group of juniors that I coach every Saturday morning. Every week they are ready to listen and learn while having a fun based weekly group coaching session full of smiles and laughter. Their golfing ability has come on leaps and bounds throughout the years I’ve coached them, which is a delight to see. If you follow our social media platforms you will see the videos and photos I post from every weekend showcasing their abilities. Take young Logan McKim who set a personal best drive of 108 yards which you can see from the video below. If you know of anyone who would be interested in bringing a junior along to one of our Saturday morning sessions then please spread the word. Up until April 1st it is ONLY £4 per hour and they are ran on a Saturday Morning 9am-10am. #MakeGolfFun #JuniorsRule #GrowTheGameWeAllLove’ |

A tense final hole... It was a shock win for world number 417 Adam Long, as the American claimed his maiden PGA Tour title at the Desert Classic in California. A bogey-free card for Long – in what was only his sixth tour event – led to a final round of 65, finishing on 26 under. He fought off stiff competition from the considerably more experienced Phil Mickelson, who was left ruing a lack of composure on the greens, as he finished one shot behind Long. Mickelson had carded an opening round of 60 – his best ever round on tour – but he failed to cling on to his lead as Long claimed a well-deserved victory. On the European Tour, it was an equally nerve-wracking end in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, with Shane Lowry emerging victorious by one shot over South African Richard Sterne. It was the first victory on tour for Lowry since August 2015, and signals a return to form for the Irishman. A test of nerve was required with both Lowry and Sterne level on the 18th tee, but Lowry’s birdie at the last sealed the win. |
The last thing anyone wants is to purchase a new set of irons, only to struggle massively when they take to the course with their friends a few days later. Sound familiar? Well, with lots of new products about to land in-store for 2019, here is an iron model that we recommend having a custom fitting for... |
The new G410 iron from PING is a brilliant game improvement option that is engineered to offer impressive distance. When you look down at address, you'll notice its clean and refined shape, which will help inspire confidence with every club. But what we love the most is its updated COR-EYE technology, which delivers a higher ball flight and increased ball speeds - essentially more distance!
Hopefully, you have an idea of which iron you'd like to put in your bag, but it's not until you come and visit us for an enjoyable custom fitting that you'll know which iron and shaft combination performs best for you. We're here to help you play better golf. |
