Club Charity Day

This year the golf club have decided to have a bit of a freshen up of the annual Club Charity Day after listening to feedback from members and players from previous years. The new date is now Saturday 30th June.

The Charity we will be supporting is still the fantastic TyHafan and we hope to make it one of the best so far. To encourage more members to play and enjoy this fantastic club day it has been decided to lower the cost to enter a team to £60 per team of four.

We anticipate this event to sell out fast, so to avoid disappointment call the office on 01633 412029 to book your team.

Let’s make it a great day for you, the members, the golf club and most importantly let’s raise lots of money for TyHafan.

Volunteers doing a blinding job

Golf clubs like ours often rely on the help and support from the members to very generously give up their spare time to help out at the club doing the jobs that often get forgotten about. Luckily we have so many great members at Llanwern that are willing to help out. Here are just a few pics from recent weeks of awesome members putting a shift in to help out.

We are always looking for more volunteers so if you could offer a couple of hours a week we would love to hear from you. We can’t afford to pay you, but you can have as much tea and coffee as you can drink!

A curry night with Mike Flynn – Newport County Manager

Come and join us at the club on Friday 6th July for what promises to be a great evening. Listen to the story of the great escape, where he steered the Amber Army from almost certain relegation from the football league plus many, many stories.

Tickets £20 including Curry, Rice & Chips

Tickets are available to members and guests from the bar or office.

Juniors flying

It looks like the Junior and Family Open day we recently hosted is helping to bolster our already successful Junior section. We are getting more and more involved in coaching and we are starting to see even more taking part in Sunday afternoon competitions run by Junior Organiser Paul White.

This Sunday we had 10 division one players and 7 division two players. Keep up the great work everybody.

Shop news

What’s new and shiny in the shop this week?

Limited edition number 70 Titleist Pro V1s in celebration of the upcoming 70th US Open (which Jack Davidson will be attempting to qualify for in a couple of weeks) but be quick as we have limited stock available.

As we always say if you can’t see it in store doesn’t mean we can’t get it. We are a member of the UK’s biggest buying group and can get our hands on just about anything (legal!) in golf.

So please ask and let us help you.

Create your look

We may be heading into summer soon but it’s still important to have the right clothing on you in case the weather changes. A lightweight mid-layer is the perfect piece to keep in your bag for exactly this reason, and combining it with other layers can create a great look.

The easy way...

One way to hit the ball further is to swing faster, but more often than not this will harm your accuracy and your quality of strike.
