Why winter golf can be great for you? I know that statement is hard to believe when it’s minus 2 and the rain is coming in sideways, but it really can be a great time. It is the ideal time for you to get a head start on your playing partners and the rest of the members at your golf club and achieve those New Year’s resolutions of playing better golf in 2018. While your golfing partners will be getting worse this winter by not playing or practicing, you can buck the trend. Do something – anything – to keep your game on track, and you will be ahead of the game when the new season starts. The best way to do this is to understand your faults, figure out what is the root cause of them and then put a strategy in place to correct them. It is a myth that you have to get worse during a swing change before you get better. My teaching philosophy is based around trying to keep things simple. I aim to unravel two or more compensating errors with one thought process/change which makes the process easier. These images are from a selection of lessons last week in The Golf Theatre all demonstrating great improvements through simple, minimal swing thoughts. A great time to change your swing is NOW so come the start of the season the swing change is an unconscious & competent movement pattern that allows you to focus on the scoring zone in the playing season.
