Hello golfers!
We hope this week's newsletter finds you all in fine golfing form and enjoying the 2017 season plus the fantastic condition of the course this year.
What Is Bag Mapping And How Can It Help Your Game?
Do you know exactly how far you hit your clubs? Do you think you hit your 7 iron 150 yards because everybody (apparently) hits their 7 iron that far! You really need to know your carry distances of each club. Knowing this vital information will take countless shots off your score and quickly too.
That's without changing your swing.
Knowing how far each club in your bag carries can improve your consistency and confidence when hitting into greens or even off the tee with hazards in the fairway. Some of you may have heard of this before but often wondered how do you do it. Trying to do it on the range isn't always great as the balls are not often 100% compression, so they don't fly as far and it's difficult to tell exactly where they are landing and at what distance.
Doing it on the course is again difficult as you have the wind, slope and bounce to factor in. Yes the pin could be 120 yards away and your 9 iron has finished pin high, but in actual fact that club has pitched at a distance of 106 yards and rolled out the rest. This is ok as long as you don't have any trouble in front of the green.
So how do you do it then? Well, there's a world class facility here at Llanwern - The Golf Theatre!
It will only take about an hour to complete and will have you swinging more confidently and hitting the right club more often, lowering your score.

Jack's At It again!
Well what a year this is turning out to be for Jack!
He was away again this week at a golf course I'm sure most of you have dreamed about playing, St Andrews, the Home of Golf. Jack played 72 holes in 2 days which consisted of 1 round on the Jubilee Course and 3 rounds on the Old Course.
Jack finished in a very impressive tied 8th place with a qualifying score of 71 and 73 and then final rounds of 70 and 69 to shoot a very impressive 5 under par in what sounded like difficult conditions. Jack is now up to 53rd in the World Amateur Scratch rankings!
It was another very impressive tournament from Jack. Long may it continue!
Jack has also been recognised for his achievements so far this year by being named The Rising Stars Monthly winner for June recognising the best up and coming talents in Wales.

Sad News
It is with a heavy heart to pass on the news of two recent deaths of club members. One of Llanwern's true gentlemen, Pat Heirene and former Club Captain, Jeff Williams both recently passed away leaving a big hole in the close knit Llanwern family.
Thoughts and condolences go out to all family and friends at this difficult time.
