Hole In One Club
Hello and welcome to another newsletter jam packed with success stories! We hope you enjoy this week's edition!
They are like buses, you wait forever for one then three come along at once. Last weekend we recorded three hole in ones at the Club.
Junior Dan Bearcroft holed out on the 7th and not to be out done, Harold Meese and Ann Booth both thought they would have one each on the 13th!
Well done guys, a great achievement.

Birkdale Here We Come
Llanwern greenkeeper Scot Arnold & local postie Steve Harvey, both pictured, recently played in a R&A sanctioned 9 hole event at the Celtic Manor and I can happily report they returned back to Llanwern as champions.
The prize for winning this event is incredible and one I know for certain the boys can't wait for...
They have now qualified for the National finals, which are to be played at Royal Birkdale (this year's Open Venue) the Saturday before The Open Championship begins. This will be a fantastic experience for the boys playing Birkdale the week before The Open. Quick bit of advice though lads, make sure you take plenty of golf balls!
More Success From The Staff At Llanwern
Scot Arnold I think is taking inspiration from Jack Davidson at the minute as he has also just bagged another fine win! Scot and Club Manager Julian Sansom played at the Kendleshire last week in another pairs tournament sponsored by greenkeeping company Tacit. Scot and Julian won this event with 42 points and this time they won a trip to the Belfry to represent Llanwern in the National finals. Well done again to all the boys and good luck in the finals form everyone at Llanwern.
Titleist Demo Day Huge Success
Last Friday we hosted a Titleist Demo Day that I am pleased to say it was fully booked and a great success. For once I was having a fit myself and getting spoilt in thegolftheatre.com.
I was being custom fit for a 917 driver, fairway and hybrid and I have to say it was very nice to be on the other end of a custom fit. After trying several head and shaft combinations, we settled on the D3 driver head, which helped me decrease my spin as I traditionally hit a little too high off the tee, with a Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana Ltd D+ White 70 (Stiff) shaft and ½" shorter than standard.
Some people might find it strange me having a slightly shorter shaft as I am 6 ft 1". With the shorter shaft my dispersion became a lot tighter without losing any distance as I hit the centre of the club more often. I also gained an impressive 14 yards more carry on my previous Titleist driver.
If you missed this event do not panic as we have all of the Titleist fitting equipment for drivers, fairways, hybrids and wedges at the club all the time. To book a fitting or to trial them click here.
Jack's Back At It Again!
This time competing at the biggest amateur tournament in the UK, The Brabazon Trophy. This year the prestigious event was played at Woodhall Spa Golf Club, and the field was very very strong!
Jack secured making the cut by shooting rounds of 72 and 70 (par 73), which saw him qualify comfortably. A third round of 75 and a fourth round of 78, with a finishing score of 3 over par for 4 rounds saw Jack finish in T35th position. Congratulations again Jack on a great tournament and may your success continue for a long time to come, which I'm sure it will. Jack is currently 78th in the Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings an unbelievable effort
It is also worth a massive shout out for everybody's favourite on course Twitter reporter (Crunch On The Course!), The Daddy Caddy of 2017 and all round top guy Jonathon Davidson (Crunchie) for his continual, unrelenting support of Jack. Keep up the fantastic work Crunch, you are doing a brilliant job. I know JD is looking down beaming with pride at you two.
Good luck both for the rest of the season we are all behind you.
Special Mention
Just wanted to finish this week's newsletter by wishing my Old Man, Big Dave, a Very Happy 69th Birthday.
Also, I'd like to wish my Mum and Dad a Happy 45th Wedding Anniversary.
Well done Mum especially!
