What a week of highs and lows it has been.
The terrible events in Manchester really put things into perspective and make you realise how precious life is. Sometimes we moan about the small things (a bad round of golf etc.), when they really are not that important in the grand scheme of things. Thoughts and prayers go out to everybody affected.
Ok so what has been happening these past 7 days at one of the top golf courses in South Wales and the West?
James Boys Night a Big Success
It was nice to see so many members enjoying The James Boys performing last Saturday night at the Captain and Lady Captain's first dance. Almost one hundred people attended the evening and made it into a great night.
I know that everybody on my table had a great time and I'm sure that there were some sore heads on Sunday morning too!
Please make every effort to support your club at future events as these are put on for you the to enjoy. We really want to make the social scene at Llanwern Golf Club every bit as successful as the golf scene.
Golf Ball Fitting Day A Great Success
The golf ball is the only piece of equipment you use on every shot. Titleist invest heavily into ensuring you are playing the correct ball to help you with your game.
Last Saturday we hosted a Titleist Ball Fitting Day where two expert Titleist ball fitters attended the club for 6 hours, giving our members and visitors a fantastic experience (and some free balls!).
How do you know if the ball you are playing is right for you?
Our goal at Steve Truman Golf, is to help all golfers play better and shoot lower scores, and being fit for the right golf ball is an important part of that. We can help guide you through the process in finding the correct ball for your own individual game.

More Good News on the National Stage
Over the weekend Jack Davidson was back to his old tricks, yes he is in here again and again with more great news! I think he is going to need his own newsletter soon!
This time Jack was playing in The Welsh Open Championship at The Vale Resort on the National Course; with an opening round of 71 Jack was close to the top of the leader board. A 2nd round of 80 saw Jack slip down, but still make the cut. Now talk about 'bouncebackability', Sunday the final day consisted of 36 holes to determine the winner. A morning round of 68 made Jack fly straight back up the leader board heading into the afternoon round safely inside the top 10. An afternoon round of 70 made Jack move up the leader board even more, eventually finishing in 3rd place.
The support for Jack from members this week has been amazing, with several making an appearance over the three days to support him, and why not when he continues to make the members and the staff of this club proud.
Massive congratulations from myself, Scott and Rhi and the members here at Llanwern and good luck this week in another Major event, the Brabazon Trophy, held at Woodall Spa Golf Club. Follow ourselves, Jack or his amazing caddy Crunchie for updates on how Jack is getting on!
A big shout out to Crunchie (Caddy) for carrying Jack's tour bag for 36 holes around the National Course, which I hear isn't an easy one to walk!

I have to say that it is worth a mention how good the course is looking at the minute.
Full credit has to be given to Gareth, Richie, Scottie and Kian for the fantastic skilled work they do in presenting and maintain the course, in particular the greens.
Great work lads and keep up the excellent high standards.
Lads & Ladies on Tour
Being a member of a golf club has many benefits aside from golf. One being you get to meet so many amazing people and spend time with people you might never normally do. Another is you get to experience amazing locations, whilst enjoying the many health benefits playing golf brings.
