Wow, Wow, Wow... Just Wow!

What is there to say this time? What an incredible start to 2017 Jack Davidson is having. Hot on the heels of his Spanish Amateur Title Jack has added to his haul of European titles by winning the Euro Nations Championship also played in Spain.

This was one of the strongest fields of the season and what is more impressive was how he captured the title. He won by 4 clear shots on 5 under and arguably more impressive, he was 11 shots clear of third position, an unbelievable performance.

Not only did Jack win the individual title, he led Wales to the team title too finishing on 13 over par collectively winning by an equally impressive margin of 11 shots.

In the context of this year's Walker Cup it was Jack that stole the headlines again. With Jack no longer under the radar at the start of this tournament he arrived with more expectation on his shoulders. He then proceeded to complete a near wire to wire win holding off a select international field with a total of 20 birdies and 2 eagles.

I am particularly proud in having coached two of the four-man winning Welsh team from an early age. Watching these once young junior golfers turn into great men fills me with enormous pride.

Jack, massive congratulations you deserve it. I know how proud your family are of you and I'm 100% certain JD will be looking down bursting with pride too. Also, as much as the yellow jacket suits you I think Green is more your colour!

My favourite part of the weekend came when jack turned up to the shop on the Monday afternoon not having slept and hungover with the shakes after celebrating in true champions style!

Junior Coaching

   

I had the pleasure this week of delivering our first Junior squad session of the year on goal setting and psychology.

The Junior team players involved did an awesome job in really getting their teeth into it and hopefully learned a lot from the session.

We are lucky enough to have some of the best Junior golfers in Gwent at Llanwern and we are aiming to give them elite coaching experiences like these on a regular basis.

It was only a few years ago I was delivering these sessions at Welsh Golf Union coaching to our very own Jack Davidson.

We are hoping to inspire our current juniors to follow in the footsteps of Jacko, who as you can see above is dominating!

By the way I don't think I have ever seen Junior Organiser Paul (Chalky) White looking as happy as he is here holding 3 large pizzas!

   

 

First Theme Night of The Year - Social Event on Friday, 28 April

Who doesn't love fish and chips on a Friday evening washed down with a few bevvies!

Come and join us and help support your club in the first of many themed nights of 2017. Come and meet up with old friends and meet new ones. Bring friends and neighbours too, you don't have to be a member. Everybody is welcome, young and old!

The evening includes Fish Shop Fish & Chips, a free drink (small glass of wine or bottle of beer). Stand up, sit down bingo a raffle & music.

You also receive a free ticket for our draw which is now at £100 (to win the draw you must be in the club-house at the time of draw and be over 18 years).

A Great Turnout

What a great entry for only the second competition of the season. 133 players is a fantastic field and I'm sure you all enjoyed playing in what was hopefully the first of many sun drenched comps this year. Great to see some new names in the winner's circle too.
