Wow, what a weekend that was!!
Pros day, A Hog Roast, The Maurice Keene Cup and some unbelievable golf played in the Open. Hopefully we have managed to squeeze all of the best bits of the past seven days into this week's newsletter!
The Olympic Themed Family Fun Day saw 40 teams take on the challenge, with the penultimate group coming in with the winning score, and what a score it was; 146 points took the Gold Medal this year!

Thank You to all the Lady members who worked in the Halfway House/ Beer Tent who kept you all hydrated, entertained and relaxed with the beers and the massages!
Collectively we raised over £300 in memory of two close friends of mine and the clubs who we sadly lost earlier this year. The Charities were Velindre and St Davids Hospice so thank you to everybody that got involved and donated.
The Junior Club Clean raised over £80 for their section, thank you to everyone who had their clubs cleaned.
Finally a BIG BIG THANK YOU from myself, Scot and Rhi for a brilliant day, we thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait for next year!
Junior Summer Camps
We have several junior golf camps planned for this summer. These are full day camps and are all fun based. We cover all aspects of the game in a fun, safe environment and children are presented with certificates at the end of each camp.
Full day 9.30 - 3.30 (includes hot lunch, goodie bags and refreshments) £35

Llanwern Recent Round Up
Owen Edwards and Jack Davidson have once again been very busy these last few weeks flying the Llanwern flag on the international stage.
They represented Wales on the biggest of stages playing in the European Team Championships in Luxembourg. Wales finshed in a very respectable 2nd position in the Strokeplay (div 2) and narrowly lost to Iceland in the final of the matchplay. Both Jack and Owen made fantastic contributions to the team's success that have ensured Wales will be playing in division one next year.
On a Club level the boys have been progressing nicely through the rounds of the Victory Shield and have now reached the semi finals, a fantastic achievement. The Semi final is being played this Sunday at Southerndown GC at 8.30am with the final being played on the same day. 1.30pm tee off.
It would be great if we could get some support for the boys and all members are invited to cheer them on. If you have not been to Southerndown before it is worth going for the spectacular views alone. I know Jack and Owen would really appreciate some members support.
Finally after what will hopefully be a successful Sunday the boys tee it up in the Welsh Amateur on Monday again at Southerndown. This event is 36 holes Strokeplay with the top 64 players qualifying for the Matchplay stages.

Welsh Team Championship Qualification
Congratulations to our first team who have qualified for the Welsh Team Championship Finals in Wrexham August 12-14th.
We have won this event, the biggest amateur team event in Wales, twice before. I was lucky enough to be part of the winning team in 1998 and it is still one of my proudest golfing moments. Again it would be fantastic if anybody would like to join the first team on the trip and show their support. Caddies and supporters are always really appreciated. Besides the golf they are generally fantastic, fun, eventful trips!!!!!
