Scottie Goes to Town
Last week saw Scottie visit Friars Walk in Newport and Caerleon University to deliver fun based golf sessions to over 120 school children.
In Friars walk Scot utilised the format of Street Golf and it went down fantastically well with all participants.
StreetGolf is a fun and engaging golfing activity designed by StreetGames and The Golf Foundation, with the help of young people. The StreetGolf format aims to bring golf to young people, regardless of their access to traditional facilities and is ideal for use in an urban or inner city environment. Young people are encouraged to make innovative use of everyday equipment to make sessions different, challenging and enjoyable.
In Caerleon University Scot utilised Tri Golf to engage with a slightly younger audience from Lliswerry Primary School.
Tri Golf is a 'mini' version of golf designed specifically for young children at infant, primary and junior schools.
The introduction of Tri-Golf has made it possible for the education sector and golfing community to work closely together for the benefit of the schools, the clubs and the young people in a situation where everybody wins.
These excellent schemes that we run help to take Llanwern Golf Club into the local community and help to develop links between the pupils, the schools and other organisations and ourselves.
It gives children the opportunity to try golf in a fun, safe environment and offers them the chance to visit the club for further coaching. It links in excellently with our Junior Section Development structure and ensures Paul White our fantastic Junior Organiser is never short of new talent!!

Llanwern Ladies on Tour
Last week saw 8 of our ladies section visit Okehampton for a week of fun filled golfing activities. They assure me they were on their best behaviour at all times, drank sensibly and didn't bring the good name of the club into disrepute.
The winner of the weeks golf tour was last years Madam Captain Alison Carter who can be seen receiving her trophy of this years Captain Hazel Rudland.
Heroes of the week
Last Sunday saw the Tim Price Cup being played employing the Greensomes Foursomes format. That's the one where you have to apologise to your partner when you have hit them into the undergrowth (again....!)
Some excellent golf was played and congratulations to Gareth Cueto and Gavin Morris with an impressive 44 points.
Looks like the lessons and practice are paying off Garteh!

New Buggies
We are pleased to inform you that we now have a new fleet of EZ-GO buggies that have replaced our old ones. You can now travel in comfort with these fantastic new machines!
Please be aware that the buggies are proving to be more and more popular. You can reserve a buggy by calling us on 01633 413142 to avoid disappointment.
The Juniors also played a Greensomes format last Sunday and it was won by the impressive Lewis Brown and young George White also with 44 points.
Thank you to Jack Davidson for help drawing the pairs out of the hat.
As you can see from the picture it was entertaining to say the least.
The boys finished the evening off with some fun competitions that Junior Peter Malpas managed to capture perfectly with these impressive photos. If you don't make it as a golfer Pete you will certainly make a great photographer.
