Spring Clean 

Spring is well and truly in full flow so we thought it was time for a spring clean at the club!! You don't get a second chance for a first impression so we have been busy power washing the entrance to the club to give our members and visitors a first class welcome. Next time you are at the club please remember to take your shoes off at the gate to keep the place looking 'spick and span'!!!

   

Masters Draw 

Nothing quite like the Masters being around the corner to let us know the 2016 golf season is right upon us!!! Its been a long, long, long, long, long, long time coming after the recent winter!!! To celebrate we are running our annual Pro-Shop Masters Draw with fantastic prizes to be won. 

How it works. 

Pick 3 players you think we will do well. 
Points are allocated on their final finishing position. The person whose three players have accumulated the least amount of points will be the champion. 

   

For Example

2016 Masters champion = 1 point 
Runner up = 2 points 
3rd Place = 3 points 
4th place = 4 points (you get the picture!!!) 
Players who miss the cut = 100 points 

In the event of a tie it will go on the order you have picked your players so choose your order wisely placing your favourite player as pick number 1, second favourite as pick number 2 and third favourite as number 3. 

There will be prizes for the top 3 places. Any questions please call into the shop.

 

Ladies County Champs 

Please be aware that Llanwern are hosting the Ladies County Championships next week and as a result the First tee is reserved at certain times next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

This week I have been fortunate to coach two of our up and coming Junior stars Mikey Powell and George White. They have been developing fantastically over the past couple of years and are in great shape for what looks like another successful season for the pair. A couple of simple adjustments to their set up allowed a better pivot and the results were these first class backswing positions. Mike is currently in the Golf Union of Wales Academy squad and George is looking to break through this year. Keep up the great work boys and see you in a couple of weeks for your next sessions.

Winter League Finale 

PM League 

The final PM League table shows a tie at the top, between the experienced pair of Bateman and Tiso and the dynamic duo of Savigar and Hart. Narrowly missing out in 3rd and 4th spots were Anderson & Lynn and Mahoney & Philips. The tie at the top has necessitated a play off on Good Friday at 3pm to decide a winner before the PM League supper in the evening. Well done to everybody on what has been a challenging season.

Cock 'O' North 

Congratulations to Lewis Evans and Matt Thomas on winning the Blue league - A great season lads, well done. 

In the Red League Dave Barrell & Nathan Doherty were beaten by Adam "the bandit" Weston (with some support from Bob Simpson) whilst John Saunders and John Prichard had a walk over. This gives a three-way tie for leadership that will be resolved by 2nd April when Dave & Nathan have opted to play 36 holes on the same day to resolve the issue. If the teams are still drawn after this a toss-up will decide. 

In the Green League, Gareth Smith & Graham Lewis tied on points with Gareth Tucker & Steve Edwards - I cannot imagine why Rhys Sayer found it necessary to beat his uncle! 

The Black league is also tied with Sean Cook and Tony Lewis having to play Phillip Mills and Steve Harvey in a shoot-out. 

All leagues MUST be decided before the semi-final on April 3rd.

Black League champions V's Blue League Champions 
Red League champions V's Green League Champions 

The semi-final will be played on Sunday 3rd April - tee-off times from 1st tee will be between 8.30 and 9.00 am. 

The Final will be on Sunday 10th April at 8.30 am from 1st tee. 

The County Final will be on 1st May at a venue to be decided - more details will follow. 

Don't forget Cocks Dinner on Friday 15th April. Meet at or before 7.00pm for 7.30 - jacket & tie is the dress code.
