Welcome back!
I hope you enjoyed some well-deserved time off over the festive period and are raring to go once again. The start of a new year is always a good time to reflect on what's been and what can be improved going into the following year. I hope 2016 will be your best golfing year to date.
Tree Planting / Felling Projects
The Club tree re-planting project is well underway now, with lots of new trees purchased. We would like to express our gratitude to the generosity of the members who have so far purchased trees. It is a great legacy to leave at the club. If anybody is interested in purchasing a tree please contact Greens Chairman Dave Truman or Course manager Gareth Gibson for further details.
Good News for some members! The two trees closest to the 18th tee are coming down!! Check out this video to witness one of them crashing down!! I have a feeling we may be seeing more twos on 18 this year!
Llanwern on Tour
Llanwern's Mens Welsh Internationals, Jack Davidson and Owen Edwards, are currently touring Australia playing in some of the best amateur golf tournaments in the Southern Hemisphere.
The first tournament for them is the Australian Master Of The Amateur, played at Royal Melbourne Golf Club. This event is currently ranked in the Worlds Top 15 amateur tournaments and has a WAGR category of Elite Amateur, so its fair to say some of the Worlds best amateurs are participating in this tournament. It is a fantastic achievement just to be able to qualify to play in this event, but we are sure all Llanwern members believe they can play to their potential and get the results they deserve after their hard work and preparation building up to this trip to Australia.
To follow the progress of Jack and Owen please go to www.masteroftheamateurs.com.au or you can follow them on Twitter and Facebook, the tournament starts January 6th and final round is January 9th. They recently made their debuts on Australian TV please click here to see the video (around the 3 minute point is where you will see the Llanwern duo.) Jack and Owen have participated in the AM - AM challenge together as a warm up for the tournament and finished 3rd lets hope that sort of form continues.
Following the Master of the Amateur, they will participate in the Australian Amateur (Jan 10 - 16th)being played at Metropolitan Golf Club and Kingswood Golf Club (Melbourne) then they fly to Sydney to participate in the Lake Macquarie Amateur at Belmont GC (Jan21st - 24th) and finally they play the New South Wales Amateur at Riverside Oaks GC and Lynwood GC (Jan27th - Feb2nd).
Lets follow the progress of these talented Llanwern members and wish them the best of luck for these coming events.

Take Aim....Fire!
We had a great Christmas week Junior Coaching. With Christmas jumpers a plenty, fun and lots of chocolates were the name of the game.
Pictured are Oscar and Harry showing us what a solid pre-shot routine should look like!!! Good golf starts with great AIM!
Not only do our awesome team of Greenkeepers know how to look after a golf course, they also proved they know a thing or two about eating.
This was comprehensively proven on our Christmas night out.
Unbelievably, Richie finished his and was rewarded with a certificate for his efforts!! A great day and night was had by all and needless to say there were a few sore heads the morning after!!
